Context:   Maurice Merleau-Ponty distinguishes four phases of perception (auditive): "an objective sound that resonates outside myself in the instrument" (objectivation), "an atmospheric sound between the object and my own body" (participation), "a sound that vibrates within me as if I had become the flute" (conjoining), and a sound that "disappears and becomes an experience (...) of the modification of my entire body" (individuation).
